One thing I've always been curious about Super Mario Bros. 3 was what Kondo had in mind with each of its world map themes. Some, like Worlds 3 and 5 are more obvious than others, like Worlds 6 or 7... but this one lies kind of right in between.

My best guess is that it's a bit of a take on rock and roll...? It sounds almost bluesy, but softened a little and made faster to fit a children-friendly action game to me. That's the reason I tried turning its chords into more bluesy dominant 7ths here... it almost sounds as though this was how it was meant to sound all along.
